THE PICTURE BOOK IDEA
How do you sketch a picture book idea? How do you write a story that is told both with words and images? In this six-hour workshop you’ll explore the most important elements of visual writing and you’ll learn how to plan a picture book by using a storyboard and building a picture book dummy. We’ll look into early forms of visual narrative and dive into a diverse list of picture books and then you’ll create an eight-page picture book dummy based on a given text.

WRITING THE PICTURE BOOK
The interplay between words and sequential images is a necessary component of a good picture book. During this seven-day course you’ll develop the verbal and visual storytelling skills required to plan and create your own project. We’ll review early and contemporary picture books to improve your awareness of visual storytelling, pacing, composition, point of view, character development and the dynamics between words and pictures. You’ll also learn how to sketch a storyboard, make revisions based on weekly critiques and create a finished picture book dummy ready for submission.

TALLER NARRACIÓN VISUAL
En el libro álbum la narración visual y la textual suelen combinarse para construir la historia. Para que la imagen pueda narrar debe ser parte de una secuencia visual con causalidad, ritmo, legibilidad y consistencia. En este taller dirigido a ilustradores, diseñadores y narradores, miraremos los principios más importantes de la narración visual a través de la historia y construiremos un storyboard a partir de un breve texto.
